Just picked up my Elantra Sport 6-spd base a week ago. It's definitely the best bang for your buck in the class, considering how much discount Hyundai is giving out on these cars.
Everything I'd need is included in the base model so there was really no reason to shell out for the premium package.
So far (after 250 miles), my impressions are very positive - very good balance between feeling sporty/firm and compliant (not harsh) over bumps. Steering could use a bit more feedback but obviously this is no 997 911 with hydraulic steering. But overall, a very nice daily driver that will put a smile on your face.
