Just picked up my Elantra Sport 6-spd base a week ago. It's definitely the best bang for your buck in the class, considering how much discount Hyundai is giving out on these cars.

Everything I'd need is included in the base model so there was really no reason to shell out for the premium package.

So far (after 250 miles), my impressions are very positive - very good balance between feeling sporty/firm and compliant (not harsh) over bumps. Steering could use a bit more feedback but obviously this is no 997 911 with hydraulic steering. But overall, a very nice daily driver that will put a smile on your face.

Traded the Turbo in for a 981 Boxster Spyder a few days ago. And I gotta say, so far, no regrets whatsoever.
The sound, 6-spd transmission, and the handling of this thing is simply out of this world!!! Besides straight line performance this thing is a much better overall package compared to the Turbo, hands down.

And that suspension - being so much lower to the ground compared to the Elantra Sport and at the same time riding on 20" wheels with rubber band tires, it still soaks up bumps on these crappy roads in New England much better than the ES.

I will be keeping this thing for a long long time.

Congrats! Yeah, I've come to realize that it is much more fun to drive a slow car fast vs. driving a fast car slow.

I'm not in a position in my life where I can enjoy a two seater, but once the kids are out of the house, I'll be looking at the 981 Spyder, Cayman GTS or just get a used GT4.

I can definitely say that the ES is way more engaging and fun than my E63 AMG wagon. That said, it is an apple to oranges comparison. I will be test driving the Veloster N when it comes out, although I still prefer the i30 N...
