I just noticed that my car's navigation system has started showing construction areas (with this symbol ⚠) and school zones. I can't figure out how the map is being updated in real-time. Could it have anything to do with apps like Google maps on my iPhone (which is paired with the car)? Any one else having similar a similar experience?

I believe the OE navigation traffic data is fed by XM Radio stream. When my subscription expired, so did live traffic info.

I realized that the construction area shown on the map is an old one. Current construction zones don't show up. My assumption is that at the time of the last map update the street was under construction. I had not used the nav system on that route for a long time, so had not seen the construction warning until now.

If I want to get current alerts I'll have to use Google maps, Waze, etc.
