I hate that the trunk will open if I'm close and it's super obnoxious with the beeping when I'm anywhere near the trunk, but I need to press the button on the driver side door to unlock it. Previous cars would unlock as long as I was close.

other than that, awesome car so far.

When I bought the car the proximity sensor on the trunk was disabled so I activated it and when it kept popping the trunk when I opened the garage door, I disabled it again. I'm fine without it.

You can disable the trunk by going into the settings (on the steering wheel).

I am not aware of any car that actually unlocks as you get close. Some nicer cars have a sensor on the inside of the handle so as soon as you touch the handle to open it, the doors unlock. Since Hyundai is a budget entry, using the button is a cheaper method, but this is actually fairly common. The button itself, not so much, but many many cars have a touch section where that button is that you actually have to touch to lock or unlock.

I think you guys are misunderstanding my point.

if I'm close to the trunk, there is a sensor that knows I'm close, it obnoxiously beeps 4 times and opens the trunk. I could deal without the beeps, but the feature is nice.

if I get close to the drive side door, there is a sensor that knows I'm close because the entry lights turn on (under the handle). however, I have to press the button on the handle for the doors to actually unlock. on other cars I've had, just tugging on the door handle was enough to unlock the doors when I was close with the key. I think that the sensors are all there and it should be a simple software option that if I'm close to the driver side door, instead of only the lights coming on, I would like the lights to come on and the door to unlock.

Yeah that's not a standard feature on the car. Maybe someone can change the programming? Might be a bit of a wait for something like that though.

I've never seen a car that unlocks the door as you approach. Every car I've seen requires the touch of your hand on a sensor. On nicer cars, the back of the handle that you grab has a touch sensor, so it appears that all you do is walk up and pull the handle and it opens, but the actual unlocking happens once A. key fob in 12" proximity and B. touch plate on back of handle activated with hand touch. The cheaper application we have on our car is a physical button instead of that touchplate.

Yes it is. There is a setting for proximity trunk pop. It's in convenience settings I believe through the dash and not the head unit. Mine cam enabled and I disabled it.

The 2017 Civic unlocks when you get close and locks as you walk away.

I was thinking that the puddle lights could be utilized to trigger the doors to unlock. The car knows you are near/approaching, as the puddle lights turn activate upon approach; why couldn't a relay be installed so that when the light activates, it also triggers the doors to unlock?
