Welcome to Turbo Town!
Oh wait, I'm the new guy...
I drive a 2015 Soul+ and first started paying attention to the H/K turbo small cars sometime last summer. Mostly I've been looking for a Forte5 SX, which is toted about by the famous 201HP 1.6.
I also like the Elantra GT, it has the space but so far only the 2.0 Nu in 173 HP version.
I'm really looking for the internal space a hatch has, since the Soul has spoiled me for internal space/footprint ratio, but I'll need to drive the E Sport as well as the Elantra Eco to see what they're like and if I think I can live with a sedan.
These turbo critters are RARE in my neck of the woods, the lovely Toledo area, I had to travel one hour to test drive an F5t.
I also drove a more local Veloster turbo with the 7DC and I really didn't like the DC. A more extensive drive is in order.
From what I've read, the 178 HP 1.6 looks like a great compromise engine, it seems to have just as much spunk as the 201 HP, the acceleration figures in Optima LX and Sonata Eco are pretty competitive considering their greater mass than the Elantra/Forte cars, but it's exclusively the 7DC trannie also.
I've been Autotrader searching for F5t but I'm certainly open to the Elantra or Elantra GT with either the 1.4 Kappa or the 1.6 Gamma in either HP designation.
