Swiffer duster the interior on my lunch break. Post winter dust is real in my part of the world. Roads are covered in it, and doesn't really go away until late April/early May . 1-2 times a week to the car wash for a spray off, no point in a full wash until the roads are cleaner.

 

California duster? I live in AZ and have to deal with dust as well. I just dust off the car 1-2 times a day and combine that with a little quick detailer action keeps it clean between washes.

 

That's why I don't buy black cars anymore.

 

Hard not to agree there, but worth it when the work is put in .

 

Received my boost gauge today, will be installing it as well as changing the turn signals, license plate lights and all interior lights to LEDs. I'll post pics when done.

Installed the LED blinkers, reverse lights and interior lights...

I used ZeVo 2357 led bulbs for the blinkers and they look great, but do Hyperflash. That's doesn't bother me but the constant notification on the dash and the orange triangle with the exclamation mark sucks. I wonder if there is a way to flash that off the ECU. Or at least dial down the trigger point seeing how the car thinks I have a bulb out. Either way I think they look great.

The boost gauge is installed. And I tucked it away inside the cluster, as I have not found a viable mounting option that I want yet. Maybe in the future I will adjust the location but nothing on the cluster is blocked. Install was easy, I didn't go through the firewall, but inside the quarter panel into the cabin.

Plasti dip and debadge

Today I debadged the rear "Elantra" and "Sport" badges and plastidipped the Hyundai badge black. Waiting on my M&S rear spoiler from kdm-motors.com. May be getting a muffler and resonator delete done, price I was quoted was good just have do to some more research as to whether I will void my warranty or not.

Removing the pieces of the exhaust shouldn't void your warranty. They would have to prove that what you did to the car cause whatever to break. Ultimately, removing a muffler wouldn't cause any other issues to the car. If that was the case, everyone putting on aftermarket exhaust systems would have no warranty.

 

In fact... less backpressure to the turbo makes the car run better and will last longer as there will be less stress on the exhaust turbine.

 

You can literally run 3inch piping from the turbo out and have no issues at all. The turbo provides the necessary backpressure and that's about it. That's why you can dump straight out of the hood.

 

Debadged. Thinking about painting the giant flying H emblems as well, but not too keen on pulling the front bumper off already. Heh.

 

Installed some 6EE shift linkage bushings today... yeeeeesh! That was interesting. I was test fitting them for Mark... apparently the internal diameter of the larger of the two linkages is a bit smaller than the current VT linkage bushings that he has. I had to dremel out the inside of the linkage end a bit to get it to fit. Heh.

However... holy crap! This gearbox is pretty much perfect now! Each gear is perfect. It would be nigh impossible to miss a shift with this setup.

 

Their plan is to make some that don't require modifying the factory parts, right? Hopefully.

 

Hahahaha yes, absolutely. I did what I did because:

1. I could.

2. I like to practice my skills with different tools and modification techniques whenever I can.


Rest assured, Mark is already on it. I would have measured it all out for him but I don't have a vernier caliper to measure internal diameters accurately with.

 

LOL it would be pretty interesting and entertaining if they don't fix it and send you the kit with a dremel tool with a good luck sticker on it

Today I'm tinting the tails. All done with the tint and will be applying clear in about 45 minutes. Once the clear is on and cured I'll do a light wet sand, compound, then polish. I'll follow that up with a paint sealant and a coat of wax. Will post pics when done.

 

I think they turned out pretty dope! Yes, I know the car is dirty... went to a pizza joint with a dirt parking lot after a heavy rain this past Sunday.

 

Can you post a picture with the lights turned on? Im planning on having mine tinted next week, but really want to see how those LED's look with a tint!

 

Judging by the floor mat pics, the Auto/DCT footwell is the same as the MT footwell. I haven't pulled the trigger on them for this very reason. Looks like I have no excuse now!

Installed the shifter base bushings for the VT from 6th Element Engineering - they fit perfectly! Coupled with their shift linkage bushings (not yet ready for the ES) this gearbox is tight as can be!

 

These will be my first mods for sure. Not that there is anything wrong with the stock shifter.

 

sorry I don't have the exact bulb types, I wrote then down somewhere but can't find them. I do know I pulled them directly from the owners manual. they list all the types of replacement bulbs. just make sure that you are looking at the correct type of light as the elantra has 2 or 3 different headlight and taillight housings.

 

It is just the turn signal ones that make the dash light come on?

Kinda late to the party but those tail lights came out amazing. Love the shine you got out of them after the compounding and the light comes through perfectly, like the tint wasn't even there diminishing anything.

 

Well, if any of you folks want yours done I'd be happy to do them. You'd have to ship 'em to me and, depending on my detailing schedule (it's what I do for a living) I should be able to turn them around in a few days. If there's any interest I'll come up with a reasonable price.

 

Did the BPV to BOV mod today. Found it on a Veloster forum, cost me $5.32 CAD. Was very easy to do, took me 2 minutes. Sound clip below.

Took myself for a bit of a scouting run on some of our fine twisty sections throughout the area. Still far to dirty and cold for the summers unfortunately. Car got pretty filthy, but it was sunny and still a nice tour.

 

washed and detailed my galactic gray ES and ordered my big gulp intake, oil catch can, Tork Pipe, BOV adapter, and BOV. on a side note also ardered a set of highflow catalytic converters for my 2007 f-150 fx4.
