Yah so I went with the Pioneer option like yours and placed it under front passenger seat. I trimmed the plastic off the air vents to have the sub seat flush under and worked out awesome. This little thinkg makes a difference! Thanks for the sharing.

To summarize....

Is there sub replacement option that is better that stock that uses the stock wire? Can I just replace the stock sub with a better one? Or is the box (trunk) holding back the sub's capability?
When I asked around in Sydney nearly all said not to install it in that stock rear position cause it will vibrate and blah blah. I ended up with a powered sub that fits under the passenger seat. Required wiring was all included with the sub I got. Also, I think you will need to have another amp to power a sub that you would put in the stock rear position cause the stock head unit will not power up an aftermarket sub or not power it up well enough. Thats what I was told anyways.

I guess from my perspective the base AU spec comes with the sunroof and blind spot/cross traffic/heated seats etc, so it's kind of most of the tech package anyway? just the smaller 7" screen instead of 8" but it certainly doesn't seem small and 6 speaker not 7.

Anyway all up I've spent ~400 AUD so about ~300 USD on upgrading all the interior speakers and adding the sub and the result is quite a great system now, it would be interesting to see how mine would compare to the 7 speaker infinity system, but I'm in Aus so you'd need someone on the US mainland that has done the same to test that. I guess I can't honestly see the 7 speaker system coming with speakers like the kickers I've put in, but the sub could well oust the TW-X120A sub I've used.
Where are you in Aus? Im in Sydney and Im about to have a small slim powered sub installed. I wanted to buy 8inch to put in the spare hole in the boot but no one wants to install it saying it will sound crap and vibrate. They said the ones that do have the stock sub in there will have little power compare to an aftermarket sub hence there mabe no vibration to the stock sub. I have no idea cause I dont have a stock sub.
